2017 Alexander Vineyards Armand
100% Tempranillo - deep purple in color with notes of forrest berries and flowers, toffee and wood. The finish is long and full. This Private Selection wine is has spent 5 years in 100% French oak barrels. The wine maker would allow the wine to sit in new French oak barrels and then switch to neutral barrels. Movement of the wine back and forth between these two types barrels is to satisfy the wine makers quest to produce a wine with supreme elegance.
Tasting notes
Expressive aromas of leather and ripe boysenberry rise from the glass, layered with earthy potting soil. Notes of sweet tobacco leaf and warm clove add depth and spice, creating a complex and inviting bouquet. Well-balanced tannins and vibrant acidity create structure and lift. Layers of cigar box and ripe morello cherries unfold on the palate, leading to a long, leathery finish that lingers elegantly.
